The most spectacular views of the mighty Atlantic ocean are from these
bluffs within sight of the Montauk Lighthouse. Maybe the coolest park
on Long Island since it once housed a military installation whose
history includes missile defense, rumored UFO sightings and a fake fishing
village to hide cannons and other weaponry. Fishermen now rule the
roost and enjoy some of the best surf fishing on the Island. Turtles
Cove on the eastern edge is one of the best big wave surf spots on Long
Island. Lyme ticks and fierce riptides are hazards. |
