Getting insurance is a key step to closing.
You will need to get proof of insurance before you close on a home. Your lender will be giving you hundreds of thousands of dollars and will want to know that if a fire or some other calamity befalls the home, they will be able to get paid through insurance. You, of course, will want to know the same thing. Now, while price is certainly an important factor, the ability and willingness of the insurance company to pay out on claims is also very important. In the future, we intend on gathering information on how well the insurance agencies and insurance companies listed below pay their claims and serve their customers, but for now we are just providing a list for your convenience.
